Mike Lanier began painting when he was fourteen and studied under renowned artist, Warren Cullar. Receiving early attention, he had a one-man show at sixteen. Despite his early success as an artist, he never considered art as a career. He put those artistic talents aside and went about developing a successful business. In later years, he has since discovered the artistic talent that was such a part of his early life. It is now his full time occupation and
passion. The artistic essence of his paintings originates from Mike’s early training and career experiences. Trained as a commercial intense realism that serve as a foundation of his style, there is always a dramatic surprise thrown in to the mix. artist, his work captures the precision and realistic detail of an engineer. Though it is this precision and intense realism that serve as a foundation for his style, there is always a dramatic surprise thrown into the mix. Whether it is a balance or pose that is unexpected or a slight incongruity with the light or shadow, the viewer is always treated to a visual indulgence. You can lose yourself in his paintings and let your imagination lead you into the story painted on the
canvas. Much of the creative aspect of his work begins before Mike picks up his brush. By the time he lays on the color he knows what the finished piece will look
like. Thus, each painting is an artistic work that goes from idea to finished painting, true to the inspiration that created it. Though this method may be considered unorthodox by traditional art schools, it works well for him, as no one can argue with the wonderful results.
